Research Process Team Manager

The Research Management Group at Stanford University is seeking a Research Process Team Manager to manage and provide daily operational leadership for a team of RPMs and associates within the Research Management Group specific to policy interpretation and complex problem solving. Act as the institutional official with delegated signature authority for sponsored projects and fellowships in the School of Medicine. Ensure the School of Medicine in compliant with Federal Regulations, University policies, and sponsor requirements. Provide a broad range of support for research administration to faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and department administrators with pre and post award activities. Duties include: Direct staff and provide leadership to achieve goals and vision of the organization and the day-to-day operations. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff, career coaching, professional development and accountable for the performance of employees. Provide daily oversight of research process managers and RPM associates, including all aspects of supervision as well as workload assessment and assignment in the team. Ensure team members provide excellent customer service. Manage and resolve various issues and complaints related to customer service. Develop and lead Lean process improvement initiatives in conjunction with the associate director and director. Ensure implementation of new processes and procedures. Resolve a wide breadth of issues related to research administration policies and processes. Identify and manage complex problems requiring broad analysis in collaboration with various University offices e.g. Office of General Counsel, Risk Management, Dean of Research, Office of Sponsored Projects, Research Financial Compliance & Services. Work closely with associate director and director to keep them informed on issues and problems. On occasion, may perform any of the responsibilities in RPM Cert II. As requested by the associate director or director, represented the Research Management Group on both school and university committees and initiatives. - Other duties may also be assigned. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): Expert knowledge and fluency of governmental regulation (e.g. Federal Acquisition Regulation, OMB Uniform Guidance, Cost Accounting Standards). Knowledge and ability to understand and interpret university and sponsor policies.  Demonstrated ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations. Demonstrated commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety, shown through communication of safety concerns and use and promotion of safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.  Excellent communication skills to convey university policies and pre and post award procedures to all levels of employees and faculty. Ability to lead discussions related to personnel performance, development and growth. Demonstrated supervisory skills including conflict resolution. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
