Associate Dean for Human Resources, School of Medicine

Stanford University's School of Medicine (SOM) is seeking a transformational, innovative and operationally savvy leader for the School's human resources function. The Associate Dean (AD) for Human Resources will be a key position in SOM. Responsible for providing executive-level, strategic leadership and direction for HR, the AD will facilitate building workforce capabilities and meet competitive demands as the SOM grows and innovates. The position is critical to the long-term success of the SOM and its ability to meet its strategic goals and objectives in support of SOM and Stanford University. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide overall strategic Human Resources leadership for the Stanford SOM and develop and implement a strategic plan for the HR function linked to the University HR plan which supports achieving SOM's goals, needs and key success factors. Lead the development of the HR function at Stanford SOM to become an "HR Best Practices" leader among elite academic medical systems. All HR operations will be impacted by the HR transformation. This will include an upgraded HR data analytics, upgraded employee services capability and upgraded performance appraisal process with linkage to a performance-based rewards system. Create a motivated and high performing SOM HR organization measured by industry metrics and leadership and employee satisfaction. Design and implement new strategies for attracting, engaging, developing and retaining a top-quality workforce, including leading searches for high-level staff positions. Design and implement a leadership development training program based on the key capabilities for leaders at SOM. Champion diversity, inclusion and respectful workplace culture, policies and training for all SOM employees, trainees and students. UHR is a key partner and this role will collaborate with all UHR staff to define future requirements for talent in the SOM and craft a roadmap for supporting stakeholders. Important HR functions, including the HRIS, employee services portals and market salary assessments are managed by UHR. As the HR Leader of the largest school in the University, the AD for Human Resources provides key leadership in shaping UHR transformations of these functions. Additional collaborative relationships will include HR leaders of Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. Provide guidance to employee and labor relations issues in coordination with UHR. IDEAL EXPERIENCE 10+ years of human resources experience as a well-rounded generalist The AD will have both breadth and depth of exposure across the entire HR function. He or she will ideally have worked as a business partner in a matrixed organization and have experience as a specialist in some area(s) of the function. Leadership Experience The AD will be a highly engaging leader who has led teams ideally of 15+ employees, during a time of transition or change. Industry Exposure The AD will ideally have worked within a decentralized, matrixed environment populated by highly scientific/technical or academic employee populations. Some level of academic or healthcare services HR exposure is desirable but not required. Education Bachelor's degree required. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
