JOB PURPOSE:
Specify and/or design requirements for business information systems and incorporate new technical systems to improve work-flow, production, efficiency and effectiveness. May serve as project lead.
CORE DUTIES :
Review, research and evaluate software to determine its usefulness and appropriateness as related to existing or proposed business systems; assist with the development of preliminary and detailed system design documents for in-house and vendor computer systems.
Utilize elicitation techniques to understand business processes and translate into system requirements and/or development of systems solutions.
Elicit and gather business and systems requirements using interviews, surveys, job shadowing and other elicitation techniques.
Define and document business requirements and test cases for system developments. May include the writing of all or a portion of functional specifications.
Analyze new business requirements, system functionality, current system use and user needs.
Specify functional designs and work with developers and analysts to implement.
Coordinate with business and technology teams, ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, and system techniques and controls.
Coordinate the implementation of new or modified business systems.
Work with outside vendors in support of business systems.
Analyze and document user needs, existing and new policies, processes, procedures and operational methods to consider possible improvements to new and existing systems.
Provide functional analysis and design to developers in the resolution of system issues.
Assist with feasibility of enhancement requests, identifying options and recommending an IT solution.
Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; may include developing test plans. Conduct and document results of testing.
May participate in integration testing, smoke testing and user acceptance testing of new systems, upgrades and patching; plan, conduct and document results of testing.
Develop instructional materials, training and job aids to support client use of the application.
Problem solve in areas such as system design, input/output requirements and procedural flow between departments and/or business systems.
Advise users requiring assistance in solving complex problems or issues regarding management and business systems.
Analyze data and provide data sets to users for analysis; develop operational and analytical reports for end users.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education &
Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Five years of relevant experience.
Higher Education experience in Student Financials and or Student Records would be highly beneficial.
Demonstrated experience working with a broad spectrum of people staff, faculty, students, cross-campus colleagues, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience in enterprise application and understanding of database driven application, including:
SQL experience is necessary for Query capabilities, not coding.
Reporting experiences with BI or Tableau a bonus.
PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience would be a great advantage.
Experience with Remedy, Resource/Schedule 25 and/or Cashnet preferred.
Understanding of the software development life cycle.
Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and work flow.
Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in systems analysis.
Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology preferred.
Skill in conducting interviews plus facilitating group meetings preferred.
Skill in developing and conducting training programs preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise.
Listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to design and document complex business systems preferred.
Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically preferred.
Ability to maintain good customer relations with clients and external vendors and partners.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Specific Info about the Posting Unit:
The Student Information Systems unit in the Office of the Registrar is responsible for all systems utilized to support Graduate Admissions, Student Records, Scheduling, Student Financials and Degree Audit. We use Campus Solutions of PeopleSoft as well as a variety of other SAS services to provide excellent support to our operations. In addition, we support and provide self- service options for students and faculty.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
